CAP

Christians Against Poverty is a national debt counselling charity working through a network of centres based in local churches. CAP offers hope and a solution to anyone in debt through its unique, in-depth service.

This involves visiting the clients in their homes and offering a unique ‘hands on’ approach, which involves debt counselling, advice and practical help. This approach empowers people to help themselves out of poverty and to be released from worry and fear, which can be generated by overwhelming debts.

Our service is completely free and CAP will help anyone regardless of their religious beliefs.

If you need assistance you can call free on 0800 328 0006. Or contact Dan Burrows, our Community Ministries Co-ordinator, on

How much time do I need to commit?

CAP runs throughout the year. If you can, please offer an hour or an evening, afternoon, morning - whatever is suitable for you.

What do we need?

  • Support Team: Befriending, supporting and mentoring clients by providing practical help (eg gardening, baking, inviting people around for a meal, babysitting children etc) and emotional and spiritual support.
  • Event Organisers: Planning regular client and volunteer events including day trips etc.
  • Prayer Team: Meeting once a month to pray in confidence for specific clients and situations.
