The Context of the Ministry

Films and media, the worlds of advertising and politics all bear witness that, as a society, we are confused about who we are and how we relate to each other as men and women. Christians are no exception. We too need to resolve this core issue of our identity as it affects our gender and our relationships, right across the board.

Sadly, the church has often failed to give us a confident or compassionate lead or root us back to God's word - to our true identity in Christ -male and female, made in the image of God.
Any ways in which we are hurting or unsure of ourselves also affect how we relate to God e.g. trusting Him as Father or receiving His favour and love. Our earthly earthly experiences all too readily colour our perception of God. We can find ourselves tending our wounds or meeting our needs in ways we know to be sinful or by withdrawing into ourselves and sinning in our own private world. sometimes the only option has been to suffer in silence, unable to own our struggles with sin or hurt, for fear of rejection or shame. The church is sometimes the hardest place to be a sinner, in need of grace and understanding, as we seek to bring our lives in line with God's word!
