The Aquila Care Trust is a charity, founded in 1991 by a group of men and women who had all experienced a broken relationship or divorce. Having suffered feelings of rejection, fear, hopelessness and anger, they realised that the support and understanding received from fellow strugglers had played a vital rôle in their own recoveries and wanted to make this care available to others.

Aquila (the name is Latin for Eagle) is open to men and women from all walks of life and beliefs who are struggling to put their lives back together after broken relationships or divorce. Aquila offers support, care, guidance, companionship and hope to anyone who is distressed and unsettled by the experience.

Areas of particular interest and expertise?

Helping men and women to rebuild their lives after broken relationships, separation and divorce.
Our BREAKTHROUGH self-help recovery programmes are held at venues countrywide throughout the year and run as groups offering support, understanding, guidance, care and companionship to help you put your life back together. All Aquila programmes are facilitated by trained co-ordinators who have themselves travelled the painful journey to recovery. The groups are run as 8-week or non-residential programmes at our established branches, and also as residential and non-residential weekends at locations countrywide so that, no matter where you live, you have an opportunity to attend.

Our support network is constantly expanding as new branches open and membership grows. At some of the longer-established branches, PLUS follow-on social activities are available, organised jointly by the co-ordinators and members, whilst a few of the newer branches organise occasional outings and activities. Central Office organises workshops, weekend/short breaks, holidays and, when time allows, outings.
