Welcome! Dinner and Discuss is a ministry of St Mark's which aims to stimulate discussion and action on a topic relevant to contemporary issues in faith and life. We hold events in the Church Crypt on (roughly) the first Monday bi-monthly where a group of us can have dinner and discuss a topic for the evening, often with an invited speaker to start us off. Anyone can come along (do bring your friends!), and if you have any suggestions for future discussions, do let Richard know (07904 565456).
Aim: To create a friendly and encouraging environment where critical discussion can take place around the questions people have relating to God, the Church and their own experience of life.
What: There is dinner from 7.30pm, followed by a short address. Then we break up into smaller groups and chat about the topic. The evening closes at 9.30pm following the group coming back together and feeding back their questions and conclusions, and a short summary/conclusion from the chair.
Where: The Crypt, St Mark's Church.
When: Once every two months. See below for this year's schedule.
Who: About 20-30 people usually come to the evenings.
How: Many of the topics examined are enormous, and so to help discussion (and digestion) they will be framed as a simple contradiction that begs a resolution.
Cost: About £2 for dinner, nothing to discuss.
There is a mailing list you can sign up to if you'd like to be sent occasional notices - just mail to subscribe. The session archive can be found here.
