Belonging to a church is not a spectator sport - everyone gets to play!
Whatever your skills and preferences, there is a place here where you can get involved and make a difference.
If you already know what area you'd be interested in, then please contact the relevant staff member.
There are opportunities in every area of the church's life - from our outreach ministries to those that make Sunday services happen.
For example, there are twenty or so different ministries making each Sunday service happen - both 'up-front' such as leading prayer or worship, and 'behind-the-scenes' such as running the sound desk, or helping on the children's church team. We aim to have every member of stmarks in a healthy balance of giving and receiving, contributing to each others' needs by doing the things they are passionate about, and skilled for.
At present the teams that are particularly interested in finding new members are:
- leading the congregation in prayer during the evening service, helping all present to bring the needs of the world creatively and confidently to the Saviour.
- giving out Sunday bulletins at the evening service, ushering during Holy Communion, and helping clear up after the service.
- operation of sound desk to amplify and balance vocals and music during services or other events, plus sermon recording. Gentle induction, with expert training.
- during the 10.30am Sunday service in the Remarkables kids' church or Fingermarks creche teams, or on a Tuesday or Wednesday at Rise & Shine carers-and-toddlers-group.
- choosing and arranging the floral display at the front of the church renewed each week on a Friday. Let your creative skills run amok!
- polishing the silver and brass in the church. For those who miss the military life.
- operating the OHP system about once a month at the (10:30am) morning or evening services. A great way to serve needing basic IT skills and ability to find the 'play' button on the DVD player.
If you've got no idea what you'd like to get involved in, then we have someone here whose job is to help you find the place where you can best use your gifts and talents! This is often a process of trial and error, so we encourage people to 'try out' and then switch to something else if it doesn't work. If you'd like to start a conversation about getting involved, please contact Julian Churcher (tel 020 7326 9422 email ).
