James & Nicola Laing

James and Nicola with son John are in Jerusalem, where James is the Church of Scotland's Regional Manager for Israel and the Palestinian territories, with responsibility for oversight of:

1. St.Andrew's Church, guesthouse and a centre for various community programmes including Sunbula, a fair-trade stall of Palestinian crafts.

2. The Tabeetha School which provides education in English for both expatriates and locals - primarily the Israeli Arab population of Jaffa, a suburb of Tel Aviv.

3. The Scots Hotel in Tiberias. This is a hotel providing both a high standard of accommodation and meeting space (with a church) for pilgrims visiting Galilee, with future plans for an inter-faith centre for groups working towards peace and reconciliation - the Sea of Galilee Centre. The hotel is also open for visiting tourists, generating funds for the Kirk’s mission work.
