Website Changes and Future Development

This page will inform you about what's new on the St Mark's website and give some insight into how things will be moving forward over the next few months and years.

We welcome ideas and constructive feedback from any users of the site, but especially ask our members to play a positive role in shaping this resource for the future. Please do this by filling in our feedback form.

Recent Changes

The new Content Management System (CMS) is up and running and members of staff are beginning to update their own sections of the website. We hope this means that information on the website will become much more current and regularly freshened-up!

The online booking and payment system was used successfully for the church weekend away in Folkestone. We expect this to be used for payment and booking on more courses and events in the future.

The mp3 audio downloads continue to be very popular from the Sermons and Talks page. We've added an RSS feed or iTunes podcast file, which allows you to subscribe to get sermon updates as soon as they're uploaded. We're aware that the mp3 files could be improved for some users, who see them labelled as just 'track01' or 'audio' on their iPods. We are working on adding 'ID3' tags to give better information file contents.

Future Plans

The future development of the website is overseen by small working group chaired by Julian Churcher, which meets every month or so.

The current information in Spotlight should soon be moved into a database where ministry leaders will be able to update descriptions of their ministry, both from the external public perspective (this is what we offer) and the internal membership perspective (this is how you get involved) as well as keeping up to date the database of members involved in the ministry.

But please keep the ideas coming as to how the website could help, including interactive facilities like email groups, newsletters, form submission, online resources such as service notes, audio and video, book recommendations and anything else.
